Prepare yourself for some brand new and amazing experiences in a country where it is not necessary to leave your comfort zone to have a good time, but well worth it!

When you go to Mexico depends entirely on where you want to see, do and experience…

Climate: Being such a large country, it dips its toes in tropical and temperate zones, meaning a huge difference in the weather depending on where you are. Mexico is a fantastic all year round destination, although you should definitely plan when you will be where. Expect considerable variation from coast to coast and from the highlands to the colonial heartland. However, in general, the best and driest time to travel to Mexico is between November and April, as the rainy season occupies May to October, at least in the south. If you plan to be on the Caribbean coast, avoid June to November as this is hurricane season.

In Copper Canyon it is likely that you will find snow covered peaks during the winter months (December to February), this is when the region receives the most rain. The best times to come here are between October and December and March and April.

Oaxaca has pleasant and moderate weather throughout the year, getting a little cooler through the winter months.

For those thinking of visiting resorts such as Cancun or Merida on the Yucatan Penisula, we recommend you avoid ‘Spring Break’ when you may find it over run with younger US holiday makers. Perhaps arrange it around Christmas, when it is a little less busy. Summers are hot and wet, with temperatures sometimes over 100 degrees and regular visits from hurricanes. Between November and February is good here, with hot weather and less humidity.

Semana Santa (Easter week) is a very important religious festival in Mexico and a fun and colourful time to visit, although hotels will be booked up way in advance. Macabre as it may sound, another exciting festival to catch is Day of the Dead, Mexico’s version of All Souls. It falls on November 1st and entails considerable partying, elaborate decoration of cemeteries, mask adorned locals and a unique mixture of ancient spiritualism and modern day Catholicism.
